Dressed elegantly in a cream-coloured gown made from South African ostrich feathers, Edwinah’s appearance is both graceful and refined. Her double heart-shaped wings, crafted from copper wire and adorned with a blend of gold and copper-coloured beads, add a touch of sparkle. Her head is hand-felted from soft, undyed Mohair fleece, crowned with a halo of copper-coloured beads that sits gracefully on top.

The Makers
The Karoo Angels story began in 2006 in Vondeling, a remote village in the Karoo semi-desert of South Africa. What started as a small craft project for community upliftment soon grew into something much larger. The project provided training to local artisans, leading to the creation of unique, handcrafted angels from wire, beads, wool, and ostrich feathers. The project expanded to include Rietbron, forming the Karoo Angels brand. These angels have gained international recognition, bringing pride and income to the once-forgotten villages.
