Angel Marlene – small with 3D wings

Angel Marlene means the one that sees perspective and is one of the four small angels in the Friendship range. She features a felted Merino wool head adorned with a mint-green beaded halo. Her dress is made of delicate white ostrich feathers, and she has striking mint-green wire 3D crocheted wings, reminiscent of the beautiful native male Malachite Sunbird, also known as the green Sugarbird. The Karoo Angels story began in 2006 in Vondeling, a remote village in the Karoo semi-desert of South Africa. Initially a small craft project for community upliftment, it provided training to local artisans, leading to the creation of unique, handcrafted angels from wire, beads, wool and ostrich feathers. The project expanded to include Rietbron, forming the Karoo Angels brand. These angels have gained international recognition, bringing pride and income to the once-forgotten villages.

The sizes of the Karoo Angels can vary, as each one is handcrafted. This natural variation results from the artisanal process and the use of non-standardised ostrich feathers. Each angel’s individuality adds to its charm and authenticity.
