Giraffes are the tallest mammals on Earth, reaching up to 18 feet in height. Each giraffe has a unique pattern of spots, much like human fingerprints, and their necks can be up to 7.9 feet long, allowing them to reach high leaves. They can run at speeds of up to 35 miles per hour over short distances, live in herds called towers, and typically get less than two hours of sleep a day. Fascinatingly, they give birth standing up, with calves falling about 6 feet to the ground at birth.
