The angel is elegantly dressed in a white ostrich feather gown, with impressive crocheted 3D wings further embellished by blue beads. The head is hand-felted from soft, undyed mohair fleece sourced from Angora goats, and is crowned with a delicate halo of blue beads that sits gracefully on top.

All the Guardian Angels come with the same name tag: ‘I am a Karoo Angel, and I have many different names given to me by people all over the world. That is because I am a Guardian Angel.’

The Karoo Angels Story

The Karoo Angels story began in 2006 in Vondeling, a remote village in the Karoo semi-desert of South Africa. What started as a small craft project for community upliftment soon grew into something much larger. The project provided training to local artisans, leading to the creation of unique, handcrafted angels from wire, beads, wool, and ostrich feathers. The project expanded to include Rietbron, forming the Karoo Angels brand. These angels have gained international recognition, bringing pride and income to once-forgotten villages.

Good to Know: The sizes of the Karoo Angels can vary, as each one is handcrafted. This natural variation arises from the artisanal process and the use of non-standardised ostrich feathers. The feather tufts used in creating the angels are supplied by Cape Karoo International, globally renowned for their finest quality ostrich plumes.
