Hand-Carved Wooden Zebra Miniature

Each piece is carefully hand-carved from the fallen branches of non-native Jacaranda trees, a soft and sustainable wood. Distinctive features are burnt into the wood using red-hot wire with wooden handles, enhancing texture and depth. This meticulous, machine-free process ensures every carving is a unique work of art

Jacarandell African Carvings is a small co‑operative based on a farm near Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. The team of three talented carvers create functional art from Jacaranda wood. Donald Sibanda specialises in spoons, spatulas, salad servers, and knives. Ndubeko Ndlovu focuses on African animals, bird decorations, door stoppers, and boards. Brian Ndlovu skilfully carves boards, door stoppers, nativity sets, and Christmas animals. The business is managed by Frances Randell, who oversees product design, material sourcing, marketing, networking, and quality control. Each carver is paid per completed piece at a fairly negotiated rate. Despite many challenges over more than 25 years, Jacarandell has continued with determination and pride. Their animal carvings are individually crafted, unique, and full of character.
