Karoo Angel Gerda

Each angel's feather dress is made from bleached ostrich feather tufts, sourced from Cape Karoo International — renowned for their finest quality ostrich plumes.

A single heart-shaped wing at her centre is shaped by hand from fine wire, with blue and silver glass beads worked directly onto the wire.

The head is hand-felted from undyed mohair fleece from the Angora goat, sourced from Eastern Cape farmers.

Materials: Felted mohair, ostrich feathers, Easi Coil wire, glass beads, hanging loop

Care: Allow the feathers to fluff out naturally after unpacking. Dust may settle on the feathers while on display. Remove it gently, or, if further cleaning is necessary, hand-wash carefully with a mild detergent suitable for wool and silk. Fluff the feathers with a hairdryer on a low-temperature setting, keeping it well away from the feathers. Gerda's Easi Coil wire can tarnish with prolonged exposure to humidity. To keep her looking her best, store her in a small airtight box or the packaging she arrived in together with a silica gel sachet. This will protect her from moisture when not on display. Avoid prolonged exposure to harsh, direct sunlight to help protect the feathers.
