Karoo Angel Maria - Small, 3D Wings
Angel Maria, meaning the wished for, is one of the four small angels in the Friendship range, which consists of Angels Maria, Marlene, Olaf, and Rafiki. She features a hand-felted head made from natural, undyed Mohair fleece from the Angora goat, adorned with a rose-gold beaded halo. Dressed in a delicate white gown crafted from South African ostrich feathers, she also has intricately crocheted 3D wings made from rose-gold coloured wire.
Angel Maria can be hung as an ornament, with her rose-gold beaded halo and intricate wings adding a touch of elegance to your tree. She is ideal for a Secret Santa exchange or as a small token of appreciation for colleagues. Tuck Angel Maria into a stocking for a delightful surprise on Christmas morning. Handcrafted in South Africa by Karoo Angels
The Karoo Angels story began in 2006 in Vondeling, a remote village in the Karoo semi-desert of South Africa. What started as a small craft project for community upliftment soon grew into something much larger. The project provided training to local artisans, leading to the creation of unique, handcrafted angels from wire, beads, wool, and ostrich feathers. The project expanded to include Rietbron, forming the Karoo Angels brand. These angels have gained international recognition, bringing pride and income to the once-forgotten villages.
GOOD TO KNOW: The sizes of the Karoo Angels can vary, as each one is handcrafted. This natural variation results from the artisanal process and the use of non-standardised ostrich feathers. The feather tufts used in the angel making are supplied by Cape Karoo International, globally renowned for their finest quality ostrich plumes. Each angel’s individuality adds to its charm and authenticity, making it a truly exceptional piece of art.
